Elderly indivduals, ages 75 and up form the majority of Covid-19 related deaths in all boroughs. With more than 40% of Covid related deaths taking place among this group, it is safe to surmise that this group is the most vulnerable because they are the most immunocompromised group.
The hispanic and black/african american communites have faced a stark amout of covid related deaths. The black/africa american community had a death rate that exceeds 1000 deaths. It is important to note the sytemic disadvantages these communities face in terms of housing and income. Living in communites that lack proper funding can lead to these groups being more vulnerable when it comes to contracting Covid-19.
The Bronx and Queens have the most Covid-19 related deaths in all of the boroughs for both genders. It is important to note that the Bronx is the most underfunded borough. Twenty seven percent of residents live in poverty in the Bronx, and taking this into account it can be safe to surmise that a lack of resources contributes to this high rate in the Bronx. As for Queens, it is the most diverse borough with a massive amount of urban districts both public and private.
